Toffee Squares
Toffee Squares is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. butter, softened, 1 egg yolk, 1 7/8 c. all-purpose flour, 1 c. chopped toasted almonds or pecans and 1 c. brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy and add egg yolk and vanilla.
Gradually beat in flour until smooth and blended. (Dough will be thick.)
Spread evenly on ungreased 16 x 14 x 1-inch baking pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 15 minutes.
Remove from oven and arrange unwrapped candy bars evenly near surface of crust. Let stand for 5 minutes to soften.
Spread over crust and sprinkle nuts over top.
Cut into squares.
