Tiny Apple Turnovers

Cook apples in a saucepan over low heat about 20 minutes or until tender.
Combine sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon and nutmeg; stir into apples and cook over low heat until thickened, stirring often.
Set aside.
Combine 2 cups flour, salt, milk and 1/2 cup oil in a mixing bowl; stir with a fork until mixture forms a ball.
Divide mixture in half.
Roll each ball out on a lightly floured board to 1/8 inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter.
Spoon about 3/4 teaspoon apple mixture on half of each pastry circle.
Moisten edges with water.
Fold in half and press with a fork to seal.
Fry turnovers in 1 inch of hot oil until lightly browned, turning once.
Drain on paper towels.
Yield: about 3 dozen turnovers.
