Thumbprint Cookies
Thumbprint Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. soft shortening, 1/4 c. brown sugar, 1 egg yolk, 1/2 tsp. vanilla and 1 c. sifted flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

π¨βπ³ Instructions
Mix shortening, brown sugar, egg yolk and vanilla.
Sift flour and salt together and stir into batter.
Roll into 1-inch balls and dip into slightly beaten egg white.
Roll into chopped nuts and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 5 minutes at 375Β°. Remove and press thumb on top of each cookie.
Return and bake 8 minutes.
Place jelly or icing in thumbprint.
