Preheat oven to 325Β°.
With the butter, grease 3-quart shallow baking dish.
In bowl, mix cream, mustard, cornstarch, salt and pepper.
Add yams and potatoes; toss.
Pour into prepared dish. Cover and bake 1 hour; uncovered, bake 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender and golden.
Let sit 10 minutes.
Sprinkle with thyme. Makes 12 servings.
