Texas Hash
Texas Hash is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 lb. ground beef, 1 c. chopped onion, 1 c. chopped green pepper, 2 tsp. chili powder and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
In a large skillet, brown beef, breaking up large pieces. Drain off all except 1 tablespoon fat. Stir in onion and green pepper. Cook and stir 5 minutes or until onion is tender. Season with chili powder, salt and pepper. Add tomatoes. Break up with spoon, then add rice and water.
Bring to a boil. Stir once. Cover and simmer 20 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid absorbed. Makes 4 servings.
