Boil, cook and coarsely grate potatoes.
Add remaining ingredients, except 3 tablespoons butter.
Mix thoroughly.
Top with 3 tablespoons of butter.
Bake until bubbly and heated through, approximately 45 minutes at 350Β°. May be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen until cooking time.
If frozen, defrost before baking.
Serves 8.
