Tamale Pie
Tamale Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. cornmeal, 1 tsp. salt, 1 c. cold water, 2 c. boiling water and 1 tbsp. cooking oil, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Heat oven to 350°. Combine cornmeal, salt and cold water.
Stir in boiling water.
Cook and stir until thickened.
While cornmeal is cooking, sauté onion in oil.
Add ground beef and brown lightly.
Stir in flour, olives, tomatoes, chili powder and salt.
Spread cornmeal mush evenly in bottom of greased 8 x 10 baking dish.
Top with meat mixture.
Arrange cheese cubes on top.
Bake approximately 30 minutes.
