Syrian Bread
Syrian Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. warm water, 2 pkg. yeast (compressed or active dry), 2 tsp. salt, 2 tbsp. sugar and 2 tbsp. oil, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Measure warm water in a bowl.
Crumble in yeast; stir to dissolve.
Add salt, sugar and oil.
Stir in 1/2 flour.
Beat until smooth.
Add remaining flour.
Knead until smooth.
Place dough, smooth side down, in a greased bowl.
Turn to grease all sides.
Cover; let rise 45 minutes.
Press down and let rise 15 more minutes.
Divide in 4 parts.
Flatten with knuckles.
Let rise 20 or 30 minutes.
Bake 20 to 30 minutes at 375Β°.
