Swamp Rice
Swamp Rice is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 to 3/4 lb. bulk breakfast sausage, 1 pkg. uncle ben's long grain and wild rice mix, 1 can minced mushrooms, 1 can chicken broth and 1/2 medium onion, minced, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.
Fry out the sausage.
Cook rice per directions on box.
Drain excess fat from sausage and set aside.
In small amount of fat remaining, saute the onions until tender.
Add flour to onions and stir to moisten, not brown.
Add chicken broth and juice from the mushrooms to the mixture in the frying pan, stirring constantly until gravy consistency.
Mix rice, mushrooms, sausage and gravy thoroughly.
Bake at 350Β° for 1/2 hour in casserole dish.
May be topped with slivered almonds.
