Stuffed Onions
Stuffed Onions is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 8 to 10 medium onions, 1 tbsp. butter, some chopped mushrooms, 1 c. bread crumbs and 3 tbsp. white sauce, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Peel the onions; parboil in boiling, salted water with the butter.
Drain and cool.
Carefully scoop out the center part of each onion and chop very fine with half its quantity of chopped mushrooms.
Put in a saucepan with the cup of bread crumbs, salt, pepper and nutmeg, then add the white sauce.
Mix well and stuff the center of the onions with this mixture.
Place onions on buttered tin.
Sprinkle the tops with bread crumbs.
Put a small piece of butter on each one and bake in a moderate oven for 1/2 hour.
