Strumpfander(Garters)
Strumpfander(Garters) is an easy dinner. Made with 1/2 lb. butter, 3/4 lb. powdered sugar, 4 to 5 c. sifted flour, 6 eggs and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Roll out dough into a thin sheet.
Cut with jaggling iron into 1 x 5-inch strips.
Tie each strip once, like a loose knot, leaving small hole in middle of knot.
Fry in hot fat (they should rise almost instantly to the surface).
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
They are better on second day than on first.
This comes from a very old
Moravian cookbook from my hometown in Indiana.
