Split Seconds
Split Seconds is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. sugar, 2 tsp. vanilla, 2 c. all-purpose flour (unsifted), 1/2 tsp. baking powder and preserves (apricot, prune, nut, etc.), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
In a large bowl, beat sugar and margarine until light and fluffy.
Add vanilla and egg; beat well.
Next, stir in flour and baking powder.
Blend well.
On lightly floured surface, divide dough into 4 equal parts.
Shape each into a roll, 12 x 3/4-inches.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Using handle of wooden spoon or finger, make a depression lengthwise down center of each roll, about 1/2-inch wide and 1/4-inch deep.
Fill each depression with preserves.
Bake at 350Β° for 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
Cool slightly and cut diagonally into bars.
