Spicy Sauce
Spicy Sauce is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 c.), 1 green pepper, halved and chopped, 1 tbsp. vegetable oil, 1 c. tomato sauce and 1/2 c. chili sauce, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Saute onion and green pepper in oil until tender (about 4 minutes); stir often.
Add tomato sauce, chili sauce, wine and lemon slice.
Bring to a boil; lower heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat; cool to room temperature and remove lemon slices before serving.
Makes about 2 1/4 cups.
Sauce can also be made a day ahead and refrigerated.
Bring to room temperature before serving.
