In mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, soda, cloves and cinnamon.
Add shortening, brown sugar and buttermilk.
Mix until all flour is moistened.
Beat 2 minutes; add eggs.
Beat 2 minutes more; stir in nuts.
Place in 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 30 to 35 minutes.
