Sift flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening until like cornmeal; pour milk in slowly.
Add egg and stir until stiff.
Drop by tablespoon on greased pan. Bake at 450Β° for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
