Snickerdoodles is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. soft shortening (part butter and part margarine), 1 1/2 c. sugar, 2 3/4 c. flour, 2 tsp. cream of tartar and 1 tsp. baking soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Mix thoroughly the soft shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar and eggs.

Sift together and stir in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.

Roll into balls the size of walnuts.

Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon.

Place 2 inches apart (they spread a lot).

Bake until lightly browned, but still soft, at 400Β° for 8 to 10 minutes.

(These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out.) Makes 5 dozen.
