Skandinavians is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. yeast, 1/3 c. warm water, 1 c. buttermilk, 6 tbsp. butter or margarine and 3 tbsp. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Soften yeast in warm water.
Heat buttermilk to boil.
Add 4 tablespoons of butter, the sugar and the salt.
Stir to melt butter; cool to lukewarm.
Add flour to make a soft dough.
Knead on floured board, adding more flour, if needed to prevent sticking.
Invert bowl over dough and let stand 15 minutes.
Punch down dough; roll out to a 12 x 20-inch rectangle.
Melt the remaining two tablespoons of butter and brush it over the surface. Sprinkle over half of the dough 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup walnuts.
Fold the other half over and press edges together.
Cut in about 22 strips, 3/4-inch wide.
Twist each strip and make into a ring.
Put on a greased baking sheet and let rise about 45 minutes.
Bake at 375Β° for 12 minutes.
