Shrimp Creole
Shrimp Creole is an impressive American dinner you can prepare in about 1 hour 2 minutes. Made with . flour, . oil or bacon drippings, c. chopped onions, bunch green onions, chopped and c. chopped celery (including some leaves), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Make a dark roux with the oil and flour.
Cook this until dark brown. Stir constantly, about 25 or 30 minutes. Add the onions, celery, green pepper and garlic.
Cook slowly until vegetables are soft but not brown. Add the tomato sauce, tomatoes, tomato paste, water, salt, pepper, cayenne, Tabasco, bay leaves, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. Simmer very slowly for 1 hour, covered. Add shrimp and cook just until done.
Add parsley before serving. Serve over rice.
