Shoo-Fly Cakes
Shoo-Fly Cakes is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. flour, 1 c. sugar, 1/2 c. shortening, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 c. king syrup, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Mix flour, sugar, shortening and salt and take out 1 cup of crumbs for the top.
Mix boiling water with baking soda and add King syrup.
Mix well.
Pour into dry ingredients and mix. Grease and flour (or use Bakers Joy) three 7 x 2-inch cake pans. Two large pans could be used.
Pour into pans and top with crumbs. Bake at 350Β° about 30 to 45 minutes.
Test with toothpick for doneness.
You can use this recipe to make cupcakes also.
