Mix the first 3 ingredients into crumbs.
Reserve 1 cup crumbs.
Pour water, syrup and soda over the crumbs in the bowl. Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Cover with the reserved crumbs. Bake at 350Β° for approximately 50 to 60 minutes.
Test with toothpick to be sure not to overbake.
