Combine flour, sugar and shortening to make crumbs.
Reserve 1 cup of crumbs for top.
To remaining crumb mixture add molasses, baking soda and hot water. Mix well.
Pour into greased and floured 9 X 13 pan.
Sprinkle reserved crumbs over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
Serve with whipped cream.
