Sherried Fruit
Sherried Fruit is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/3 c. butter, 3/4 c. brown sugar, 1/3 c. water, 1 tsp. lemon juice and 6 large ripe peaches, peeled, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Melt butter and sugar.
Add water, lemon juice and sliced peaches.
Poach peaches slowly and baste them frequently with syrup.
Cook until fruit is still firm but cooked through (5 minutes).
Add sherry at the end. Serve hot with meat or warm with cream for dessert. You may substitute apples, pears, canned pineapple or cherries for the peaches.
