Sheath Cake
Sheath Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 tsp. soda, 1/2 c. buttermilk, 2 c. flour, 2 c. sugar and 1/2 c. crisco (8 tbsp.), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Add soda to 1/2 cup buttermilk and reserve.
Sift together flour and sugar.
Bring Crisco, cocoa and water to a boil.
Pour the hot mixture over the dry ingredients and mix in the buttermilk mixture, eggs and vanilla.
Pour into greased, floured 11 x 16-inch pan and bake 20 minutes at 400Β°.
