Savory Italian Bread
Savory Italian Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. flour (unbleached), 3/4 c. red onion, finely chopped, 2 tbsp. sugar, 4 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. baking soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, onion, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nuts.
In another bowl, whisk together the olive oil, buttermilk, eggs and pesto, if desired. Stir in the zucchini and add liquid mixture to the dry ingredients.
Stir just to moisten thoroughly.
Spoon the batter into greased pans.
Bake at 350Β° until tester comes out clean. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove to a rack to cool completely.
