Savannah Sweets
Savannah Sweets is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 medium size sweet potatoes or yams, 1 c. sugar, 1/4 c. butter, 3 tsp. vanilla and 1/8 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Peel sweet potatoes and cut in 1/4-inch thick lengthwise slices.
Arrange in skillet, preferably heavy, sprinkling layers with sugar and dotting with butter.
Add vanilla, salt and cayenne to water to taste, and pour over potatoes.
Grind nutmeg over top.
Cover skillet.
Bring liquid to boil rapidly.
Lower heat and simmer 20 minutes, adding more liquid, as needed, to prevent scorching.
