Salt Risen Bread
Salt Risen Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 medium potatoes, 3 tbsp. white corn meal, 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Peel and slice potatoes in quart jar.
Add corn meal, salt, baking powder and soda.
Pour warm water and scalded milk over mixture.
Put lid on jar.
Place jar in electric oven.
Turn control just until oven clicks on.
Let stand overnight or 12 to 15 hours, until contents are fermented.
Remove potatoes from starter and make the sponge.
