Hamburger, salt and pepper to taste, make 1/4-inch patties for as many as needed.
Place on a sheet of foil large enough to fold over and seal patties.
On top of each patty, layer thinly sliced potatoes, carrots and onion.
Salt and pepper top of each patty and place a pat of butter on each.
Fold the foil and secure tightly.
Place on cookie sheet and bake 1 hour in preheated oven at 400Β°.
Use juice for gravy.
