Roman Holiday Bake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. ground beef, 1/2 lb. hot italian sausage, cut in 1/2-inch slices, 1 c. chopped onion, 2 tsp. oregano leaves, crushed and 1 can cheese soup, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. In skillet, brown beef and cook sausage and onion with oregano until done.
Stir to separate meat (use shortening, if necessary). Pour off fat.
Add soups and water.
Combine meat mixture and noodles.
Pour into 2-quart shallow baking dish (12 x 8 x 2-inch). Cover.
Bake for 40 minutes (375° to 400°) or until hot.
Top with cheese.
Bake until cheese melts.
Makes about 7 cups.
