Refrigerator Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 cake yeast or 1 pkg. dry yeast, 1 c. hot water, 1/4 c. sugar, 1 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/4 c. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Soften yeast in lukewarm water; pour hot water over sugar, salt and shortening.
Cool to lukewarm.
Add 1/2 cup flour and mix thoroughly.
Add softened yeast, about 1/2 remaining flour and egg, beating thoroughly.
Add enough flour to make a soft dough that can be handled on board.
Allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes. Knead 3 to 5 minutes.
