Red Velvet Delight
Red Velvet Delight is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. vegetable shortening, 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar, 2 eggs, 2 oz. red food coloring and 2 level tbsp. cocoa, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Cream together shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, food coloring and vanilla.
Sift flour before measuring.
Sift cocoa, salt and flour together.
Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, starting and stopping with flour.
Beat until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl, mix together soda and vinegar.
Fold into batter.
Pour into two 9-inch pans that have been greased and lined with wax paper.
Bake at 350Β° for about 30 minutes.
