Red Velvet Cake

Cream together Crisco and sugar; add eggs.
Make a paste of cocoa and red coloring in a small bowl; add to creamed mixture. Sift together flour and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
Dissolve baking soda in vinegar in a small bowl; add this with the vanilla to the red mixture.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350Β° in 2 (8-inch) rounds or 1 (9 x 13-inch) pans.
