Red Cake
Red Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. butter, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 2 oz. bottle red food coloring (1/4 c.), 2 heaping tbsp. cocoa and 1 c. buttermilk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Mix butter, sugar and eggs.
Make a paste of red coloring and cocoa.
Add to creamed mixture.
Add buttermilk, alternating with sifted flour and salt.
Add vanilla.
In small cup, mix soda and vinegar, then add to rest of mixture, blending instead of beating. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350Β° in 2 (8-inch) greased and floured pans.
