Beat egg whites (room temperature) until stiff.
In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar 5 minutes on medium speed.
Add egg yolks.

On low speed alternately beat in flour mixture with milk and vanilla mixture, blending until smooth. Blend in egg whites, beaten stiff. Add 3/4 cup nuts. Divide in two 9 x 9-inch pans or one oblong 10 x 15-inch pan. Bake at 350Β° for 35 minutes or until done.
