Mix walnuts, raisins, baking soda and salt with a fork.
Add shortening and water.
Let stand 20 minutes.
Heat oven to 350Β°. Add to this mixture the eggs, vanilla, sugar and flour, mixing only to blend.

Bake 1 hour.
