Raised Doughnuts
Raised Doughnuts is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 cake compressed yeast, 1/4 c. warm water, 3/4 c. lukewarm milk, 1/4 c. sugar and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Let stand for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, dissolve sugar, shortening and salt in warm milk.
Beat in 1 egg.
Add 1 cup flour.
Beat until smooth.
Add yeast mixture. Beat in, then add 1/2 of flour.
Continue working in the rest of the flour.
The dough will be sticky.
Grease the dough with some margarine and grease a large bowl.
Cover.
Let rise until double. Punch down.
Let rise again.
Roll out dough to 1/3 inch.
Cut with doughnut cutter.
Let rise to double.
Fry in deep oil at 375Β° until brown.
Turn over.
Repeat on the other side.
