Raised Doughnuts
Raised Doughnuts is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. milk, 1/4 c. shortening, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. sugar and 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Scald milk and pour over the shortening.
Add salt, sugar and nutmeg.
Cool until lukewarm; add beaten egg and yeast, which has been softened in the warm water.
Add enough flour to make a stiff dough.
Knead thoroughly and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk.
Fry in deep fat, which should be 360Β°.
Cook about 2 1/2 minutes each.
Makes about 3 dozen doughnuts.
