Raised Doughnuts
Raised Doughnuts is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/4 c. milk, scalded, 1/4 c. shortening, 1/2 tbsp. salt, 1 cake yeast and 5 c. sifted flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Combine milk, shortening and salt; cool to lukewarm.
Add yeast.
Let stand 5 minutes.
Add 2 1/2 cups flour; beat until smooth.

Add enough remaining flour to make dough that can be kneaded.
Let rise until doubled in bulk.
