Raised Doughnuts
Raised Doughnuts is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 cake compressed yeast, 1/4 c. warm water, 3/4 c. lukewarm milk, 1/4 c. sugar and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Let stand for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, dissolve sugar, shortening and salt in warm milk.
Beat in 1 egg.
Add 1 cup flour.
Beat until smooth.
Add yeast mixture. Beat in, then add 1/2 of flour.
Continue working in the rest of the flour.
The dough will be sticky.
Grease the dough with some margarine and grease a large bowl.
Cover.
Let rise until double. Punch down.
Let rise again.
Roll out dough to 1/3 inch.
Cut with doughnut cutter.
Let rise to double.
Fry in deep oil at 375Β° until brown.
Turn over.
Repeat on the other side.
