Poppy Cock
Poppy Cock is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. butter, 2 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. corn syrup, 1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt in heavy saucepan; bring to boil, stirring constantly.
Boil without stirring 5 minutes; remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla and baking soda.
Pour mixture over corn and nuts; quickly stir until well coated.
Pour mixture into 2 (9 x 13-inch) pans.
Bake at 250Β° until dry, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 20 minutes. Remove from oven; spread apart if necessary.
Store airtight. Makes 5 1/2 quarts.
