Polvorones
Polvorones is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 1/2 c. sifted flour, 3/4 c. sugar, 2/3 c. pure lard, 2 whole eggs and 2 tsp. ground cinnamon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Mix flour and sugar in a large bowl.
Add lard to dry ingredients and blend well.
Add eggs and knead by hand in bowl until ingredients are blended and dough is smooth.
Pinch off small pieces of dough and roll into small balls about the size of a nickel.
Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake about 10 to 12 minutes at 350Β° (until golden brown).
Remove sheets from oven onto wire racks and cool slightly.
Using a spatula, remove two or three cookies at a time from cookie sheet.
Gently place on platter on which you have put the cinnamon and sugar.
(One cup sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, mixed.)
Coat generously and with slotted spoon, remove to serving platter.
Makes six to seven dozen.
