Plantation Soup
Plantation Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. beef broth, 3 carrots, pared and chopped, 3 stalks celery, chopped, 3 tbsp. crisco and 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Combine broth, carrots, celery, and onion in a saucepan. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
Strain; reserve broth and vegetables separately.
Melt Crisco in a saucepan.
Blend in flour until it bubbles.
Add milk slowly, stirring constantly.
Bring to a boil for 2 minutes.
Combine broth and white sauce; simmer 20 minutes. Add cheese and garnish with reserved vegetables.
