Pizza Pies
Pizza Pies is an easy dinner. Made with 4 pita breads, 1 qt. or 4 c. tomato sauce, 16 oz. mozzarella cheese and 1/4 tsp. basil plus any of the following: sliced onion, green pepper, zucchini slices, parmesan cheese, sliced mushrooms or minced garlic, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Turn oven to 450Β°.
With scissors, cut circles out of pita bread.
Only cut the top portion out, don't go all the way through. Spread tomato sauce on bread with spoon.
Grate cheese and pour over top the sauce.
Sprinkle pies evenly with basil and oregano. Then add any extra toppings.
Place pies on a cookie sheet or baking pan.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes until cheese melts, then toast the pita bread circle in microwave or toaster and place on top of the pizza.
