Pineapple Whip

Combine 1 cup of sugar, cornstarch and salt.
Gradually add water.
Add pineapple and cook until thick.
Pour mixture over egg yolks and beat.
Return to saucepan.

Fold hot mixture into meringue of egg whites, whipped with remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar.
Chill and serve plain or with whipped topping.
