Sift sugar (1 1/2 cups), flour, soda and salt.
Add pineapple and egg.
Pour into a greased and floured (9 x 13-inch) pan and bake at 350Β° for 40 minutes.
For topping, boil sugar, Milnot and oleo for 5 minutes; then add vanilla.
Pour over hot cake.
