Cream sugar and shortening.
Add eggs; beat well.
Add pulp; beat.
Add all dry ingredients (except soda) sifted together.
Add soda, dissolved in warm water, and lemon juice.
Bake in a 325Β° oven for about 1 1/2 hours.
Cool in pan.
