Trim fat from steak; cut meat into 2 x 1/4-inch strips.

Brown in hot shortening, drain.

Add tomato sauce, onion slices, garlic salt, beef-flavored base, Worcestershire sauce, salt and dash of pepper to browned meat.

Cover tightly and simmer over low heat for 50 minutes.

Stir in green pepper.

Cook, covered, until pepper is tender (6 to 8 minutes).

Serve over rice.
