In 1 1/2-quart glass casserole, stir together sugar and syrup. Microwave at High 4 minutes.

Stir in 1 cup roasted, salted peanuts.

Microwave at High 3 to 5 minutes until light brown.

Add butter and vanilla to syrup mixture, blending well.

Microwave at High 1 to 2 minutes.

Syrup will be very hot and sticky.

Stir in 1 teaspoon baking soda gently until light and foamy.

This does not take long!

Pour mixture onto lightly greased cookie sheet quickly!

Spread mixture out some by tipping pan back and forth. Cool 30 to 60 minutes.

Break into pieces.
