Mix sugar, syrup, salt and water.
Bring to a boil and cook until it forms a hard ball.
Stir in peanuts and cook slowly until it turns a light brown.
Remove from heat and stir in soda.
Let it foam and stir down twice.
Spread immediately in large buttered pan.
Break into pieces.
