Peach Puff Pie

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together.
Cream the butter and 1/2 cup of the sugar; add beaten eggs gradually and then the grated lemon rind.
Add flour and milk alternately.
Put peaches into the pastry shell; sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar.
Spread batter over the peaches and bake in a 375° oven for 20 minutes.
Reduce the oven temperature to 350° and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
