Blend shortening and sugar.
Beat in vanilla and eggs.
Sift remaining dry ingredients together.
Add to the sugar and egg mixture.
Stir in 1/2 cup of M&M's; decorate top of cookies with remaining M&M's.
Bake at 375Β° for 10 to 12 minutes.
